What to expect

Situated in the centre of Paris, the Palais de la Cité was a royal residence from the 10th to the 14th centuries. Its Conciergerie, standing proudly on the Quai de l'Horloge, is an essential destination for all who love the exciting world of the past. Discover the unknown and unusual secrets of the Conciergerie by wandering its history-steeped gothic halls. Called, with gallows humour, the Antechamber of the Guillotine during the French Revolution, the Conciergerie was the final residence of Marie Antoinette of Austria, who was held prisoner here before being beheaded in the Place de la Concorde on October 16th, 1793.

Take advantage of our combined ticket and continue your tour by visiting the Sainte-Chapelle, a masterpiece of gothic architecture that has 1113 stained glass windows.

Stunning to see - but very crowded
August 10th 2023
Conciergerie was very good - with helpful and informative audio guides. The Sainte Chapelle was stunning - but with a tour group in at the same time, and long lines to get in - even with the "Skip the Line" tickets - the views are diminished and the experience is lessened.
