What to expect
The Museum National Picasso Paris is one of the world's largest painting museums, inaugurated in Paris in 1985 by President François Mitterrand. Located in the magnificent Hôtel Salé in the heart of the Marais district, it is entirely dedicated to the most extraordinary collection of works by the Spanish painter.
This museum, with its streamlined style, is chronologically structured around a magnificent historic staircase. Visitors traverse the 20th century, from 1895 to 1972, following the master artist step by step, the founding father of all major currents of modern art. Monotony is not in order here, and without equivalent worldwide, the collection stands at a very high level of Picasso's production and creation.

Tuesday to Friday: 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM
Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays: 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM
Closed: Every Monday, December 25th, January 1st, and May 1st.
Last admission at 5:15 PM.

The National Picasso Museum Paris in Brief
After Picasso's death in 1973, it was decided to dedicate a hotel to him in Paris. The Hôtel Salé, dating back to the 17th century in the Marais district, is a splendid residence and ideal for housing the masterpieces of the cubism founder. After enormous works, the museum was inaugurated by François Mitterrand in 1985. It is a museum wonder and certainly the most extraordinary Picasso collection in the world. Coming from the treasure recovered by the State from the heirs in settlement of succession duties and fueled by donations from these latter, the collection gathers more than 200 paintings, 150 sculptures, 100 ceramics, and 3,000 drawings and prints of exceptional quality that the artist always refused to sell with the aim of offering them one day to a French museum.

It is said that Picasso spent an entire night alone in the Louvre Museum comparing his canvases with those of the great masters. He left satisfied from the review. He knew there could one day be a Picasso museum. He once said: "Give me a museum and I'll fill it". With the National Picasso Museum, he succeeded.
