At the restaurant Our Ancestors the Gauls, the original idea was to create a place of conviviality where everyone could, for one evening, forget about daily life and social status in a medieval atmosphere. Just like in the days of frank Gallic camaraderie, informal address is encouraged.
The formula conceived at the restaurant's inception is a novelty: a basket of raw vegetables, a buffet where everyone helps themselves freely, meat grilled over an open fire in the fireplace in front of the customer, wine on tap, cheese, and dessert, all at an all-inclusive price.
For 40 years, not a single evening has passed without a troubadour strolling between the tables, presenting his repertoire while accompanying himself on the guitar.
The restaurant is located in the heart of the Ile Saint-Louis, a privileged site in Old Paris. It has a capacity of 300 seats in 7 dining rooms adorned with stone and exposed beams.
