Bateaux-Mouches in Paris

The Bateaux Mouches offer tour cruises on the Seine all year round, as well as dinner and lunchtime cruises onboard their special restaurant-boats. The tour boats feature a heated indoor area and an open-air top level, allowing you to enjoy your cruise whatever the weather. The restaurant boats are designed to ensure that all passengers have a fantastic view of the city’s sights, with all tables arranged next to the large bay windows. The lunchtime cruises feature a live accordionist playing a repertoire of old French songs, while dinner cruises have a more romantic feel thanks to a live piano and violin duo.

The Bateaux Mouches began in 1949, at the Pont de l’Alma in Paris. Their founder Jean Bruel originally set up the company as a way to lift the mood of the city, delighting Parisians and tourists following the end of the Second World War. He was a passionate inventor, and loved the way the city of Paris had grown around the River Seine, from where all its most beautiful monuments could be admired. His passion drove him to develop the idea of the tour cruise and to this day, the Bateaux Mouches remain pioneers of the concept. Founded at the turn of 20th century to allow Paris’ constant flow of tourists to see the city and its brand new Eiffel Tower, the tour cruises remain a hugely popular tourist activity amongst visitors of the French capital.

Common questions

What are the Bateaux-Mouches rates?

The price of a riverboat cruise in Paris is obviously not the same whether you choose a simple sightseeing tour, a dinner cruise or a lunch cruise. For a sightseeing cruise, count 15 euros for adults, 6 euros for children from 3 years old. Book a cruise with dinner, from 79 euros for adults and 37 euros for children. The price will depend on the departure time but also on the formula (Paris, Prestige or Excellence). The cruise with lunch starts from 69 euros. The prices for special dates are higher whether for Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve New Year's Eve, Christmas lunch or the July 14 cruise.

Bateaux-Mouches or Bateaux Parisiens?

Few know this before booking an excursion on the Seine, but there are several cruise companies in Paris. The first difference between the Compagnie des Bateaux Parisiens and the Compagnie des Bateaux-Mouches lies in the place of embarkation in Paris. Board Rive Gauche in the port of Bourdonnais at the foot of the Eiffel Tower for the Bateau Parisiens and Rive Droite on the port of the Conference under the Pont de l'Alma for the Bateaux-Mouches. The Bateaux-Mouches and Bateaux Parisiens offer is relatively similar in the choice of formulas: the two companies each have floating restaurants with spectacular panoramic views, the Bateaux Mouches Club and the Bistro Parisien of Bateaux Parisiens; as for the cruises, both offer one-hour scenic tours, lunch cruises and dinner cruises, at 6 p.m. for early meals and 8:30 p.m. for others. If the best prices are similar, the biggest difference is in the prices of the VIP services: up to 205 euros for the Premier service of the Bateaux Parisiens when an Excellence dinner cruise does not exceed 140 euros at Bateaux-Mouches. For more detailed information see our complete guide to the best Seine River dinner cruise in Paris.

How should you dress on the Bateaux-Mouches?

There is no dress code for the panoramic tour on the Seine. For restaurant cruises, proper attire is strongly recommended. No need to wear an evening dress or a tailcoat, but shorts, flip flop, Bermuda shorts and overly sporty clothing will be refused. For men, dress sneakers, a pair of jeans and a shirt will do the trick.

What are the Bateaux Mouches opening hours?

The Bateaux Mouches promenade cruises leave from the Port de la Conférence approximately every thirty minutes for a duration of 1h15. Lunch cruises leave at 12:30 p.m. with a return to the quay at 2:15 p.m. The 6 p.m. dinner cruise lasts 1:15, while the 8:30 p.m. dinner cruise is longer with a return to the quay at 10:45 p.m.

Where is the Bateaux Mouches pier?

The Bateaux Mouches boarding pear is located on the right bank, in the Port de la Conférence just at the foot of the Pont de l'Alma in the eighth arrondissement of Paris. When you are on Place de l'Alma in front of the bridge of the same name, an access ramp to the left of the bridge will take you to the Bateaux Mouches reception area.

Do I need to book the Bateaux Mouches in advance?

It is not necessary to book a Bateaux Mouches river cruise in advance. By booking online in advance, however, you can avoid losing the next boat and skip a long line at the ticket offices. For cruises with dinner or lunch, reservations are essential because they are often sold out.

How to offer a Bateaux Mouches cruise?

Choose the formula you wish to offer between a sightseeing cruise, a dinner or a lunch, click on "offer a gift valid for 6 months". After payment, you will receive the gift voucher by email and the person will have 6 months to connect to our site and validate the chosen date.
