What to expect

Join the lovers of the hill and come discover the bohemian face of Paris on the heights of Montmartre. While the district is one of the most touristy in the capital, it has managed to retain its charm and authenticity.

Stroll through the Heart of Montmartre

If you dare not face the 237 steps of the Sacré-Cœur, take the funicular and behold the second most visited monument in France, after Notre-Dame de Paris. At the top of the hill, you can marvel at one of the most beautiful panoramas of Paris.

In search of romantic Montmartre, start your stroll at Place des Abbesses and venture to Square Jehan-Rictus to be captivated by the "I Love You" Wall. Descend Rue des Abbesses and pay your respects at the graves of Emile Zola, Degas, or Berlioz in Montmartre Cemetery.

Explore the narrow winding streets of Abbesses and discover the artists' Montmartre by having your portrait drawn by caricaturists at Place du Tertre. Then, immerse yourself in the many bars and restaurants hidden in the narrow alleys of the neighborhood. Take a breath of fresh air and, in October, witness the grape harvest at Montmartre's vineyards or admire one of the last windmills in Montmartre, the Moulin de la Galette, immortalized by Auguste Renoir.

Practical Information

Meeting point: Abbesses Metro Station exit.
Wearing comfortable shoes is highly recommended.
In case of bad weather making the visit impossible, the tour may be rescheduled.

Continue to the Moulin Rouge?

It is the wings of another windmill that have marked the history of Montmartre. Make a stop in Pigalle in the late afternoon and attend the show of the legendary Moulin Rouge dancers to experience the grand Montmartre saga. Unless you venture to Place Clichy to enjoy, in an Art Deco setting, the delicious dishes of Charlot, the king of shellfish. Montmartre is a joyful mix of genres: a diversity that defines the soul of this somewhat eccentric neighborhood.
