What to expect

The exhibition "Egypt of the Pharaohs" at the Workshop of Lights in Paris, open from February 9, 2024, to January 5, 2025, offers an immersive journey into the history of ancient Egypt. This unique exhibition employs multimedia projections to bring back to life the grandeur and mystique of ancient Egypt.

The exhibition begins by evoking the discoveries made by French scientists during the Egyptian Campaign from 1798 to 1801, recalling the initial impressions of ancient Egypt. It presents a vision of ancient Egypt through depictions of remains and drawings by the artist David Roberts, accompanied by historical quotes.

The exhibition's journey takes visitors along the Nile, where they can explore daily life in ancient Egypt through bas-reliefs, paintings, and papyrus. The construction of the pyramids is spectacularly showcased, with colossal blocks stacking up to form the tombs of kings, under the watchful eye of the majestic Sphinx.

Pharaohs play a central role in the exhibition, with representations of historical figures such as Khufu, Hatshepsut, Thutmose III, Akhenaten, Nefertiti, and Ramesses II. The exhibition also highlights mythical battles such as that of Ramesses II at Qadesh.

An important aspect of the exhibition is the presentation of Egyptian temples, from Luxor to Abu Simbel, showcasing their role as cultural, spiritual, economic, and political centers. The Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, with their colorful tombs, are also featured prominently, notably the famous tomb of Tutankhamun and that of Nefertari.

The exhibition concludes with an immersion into the afterlife, symbolized by the astronomical ceiling of Dendera, which is normally located 15 meters high but is visually accessible here.

The experience is enriched by careful musical supervision and mixing, contributing to the immersive atmosphere of the exhibition. "Egypt of the Pharaohs" is a production of Culturespaces Digital, with artistic direction by Virginie Martin and realization by Cutback.

The Workshop of Lights offers this exhibition daily from 10 am to 6 pm, with late openings on Fridays and Saturdays until 10 pm and Sundays until 7 pm.

This exhibition is a unique opportunity to delve into the universe of ancient Egypt and discover its cultural and historical riches in a novel and captivating way.
