Editorial Review

Ah, Michou! This name immediately evokes a vibrant world, a larger-than-life personality that forever left its mark on the Parisian scene. Michou, born Michel Catty, embodied the cabaret culture for decades, particularly in Montmartre. His cabaret, founded in 1956, became a true institution—a place where drag shows, camaraderie, and a unique French art de vivre blended seamlessly.
What struck people about Michou was his ability to bring together entire generations around his performances. Beneath his delicate features and blue wig, he was not just an artist; he was a symbol of joy, celebration, and pride for the LGBTQ+ community. With humor and warmth, he championed the rights and individuality of everyone, allowing people to express themselves freely, without fear of judgment.
Beyond his undeniable talent, Michou was a master storyteller. His anecdotes, shared with his unmistakable Parisian accent, brought smiles and tears to his audience. He had a gift for turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories. Additionally, his commitment to social causes and his generosity towards the less fortunate made him a respected figure, beyond the glitter and glamour.
Today, the name Michou continues to resonate through the cobblestone streets of Montmartre, a symbol of an era when cabaret was the epicenter of boldness and creativity. His legacy lives on in the laughter and dreams he inspired. This is a heartfelt tribute to an artist who made his mark and will forever illuminate our memories. Michou—a name that warms the heart and lights up the eyes.
