Royal Palace in Paris: Everything you need to know
Updated on

Eric RENAUD
The Palais-Royal, originally called the Palais-Cardinal, is a palace located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, facing the north wing of the Louvre. It was the meeting place for elegant and libertine Parisian society in the early 19th century, with its cafés, restaurants, gaming rooms, and other entertainments.
Today, it houses the Council of State, the Constitutional Council, and the Ministry of Culture.
Since 1985, the now-famous Buren columns have been installed in the courtyard.
