History of Beauval Zoo

Beauval Zoo, an ornithological park, was first created in 1980 and inspired by the passions of a woman who decided to devote her life to animals and their preservation. Over the years, Beauval has become one of the 10 most beautiful zoos worldwide, where more than 10,000 animals reside and grow in green plains, tropical greenhouses, panoramic ponds and islands all designed as replicas of their natural habitats. The zoo includes animals ranging from big cats, primates, herbivores and birds, to reptiles, fish and aquatic mammals, that have a real chance to thrive in their beauty and strength. The zoo is also home to a number of species rarely found in Europe including white tigers, koalas, okapis, giant pandas, tree-kangaroos and manatees. Visitors can also enjoy seeing hippopotamuses via a unique underwater viewing station, which has been open since 2016.
