The National Hotel of the Invalids is a complex of buildings in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. It was built under Louis XIV in 1677 to house the invalids of his armies.

Today, it includes museums and monuments, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans. It houses the Army Museum, the military museum of the French army, the Museum of Relief Maps, and the Museum of Contemporary History. The Invalides also contain the graves of several war heroes of France. Napoleon I was buried there on December 15, 1840. His ashes are placed in a sarcophagus made of red quartzite from Finland, resting on a black marble base from Sainte-Luce, which is itself placed in an open circular crypt located at the center of the Saint-Louis chapel, under the dome.
