Learn taxi etiquette before you go!
My wife and I decided to celebrate New Year's Eve in a very special way...go to Paris! The dinner cruise we went on was absolutely perfect. The food, scenes, music and dancing was spectacular. One would think that there would be taxis at the nearby taxi stand...not so. We walked 1.5 miles in the rain in formal attire. So if you are going to take a river cruise, either plan for a taxi ahead of time, or find out where the stands are with waiting taxis before you go. Also, the name of our cruise boat was not printed on the boat, nor on the reservation. We had to ask up and down the pier to find someone who knew the cruise. There are quite a few cruise boats available, so don't relay heavily on your travel sense if you don't speak French.

A joyful surprise! I went with a group of mid-20s, Americans and for awhile we were concerned we were out of place amongst the more established French community surrounding us. We had so much fun! The food was delicious, beverages plentiful, and entertainment non-stop from live music, karaoke, dancing, and trivia. I would go back to this event for sure!

Nice food, together with a great host and good music pefermance, created a a really great evening.
A lot of sing along, from the french guests, created a surprising good atmosphere.
