What to expect

Follow in the footsteps of Leonardo da Vinci at Clos Lucé. It is here in Amboise, surrounded by the most beautiful castles in France, that the artist with multiple talents spent the last three years of his life, invited by François I between 1516 and 1519. The prestigious tenant of this Loire castle completed his Saint John the Baptist here, as well as the famous Mona Lisa. You can visit Leonardo da Vinci's room as well as that of Marguerite de Navarre, the kitchen, and his reconstructed workshops. Leonardo da Vinci's extraordinary inventions have taken over the basement of the castle: admire this mechanical system of the world's first car, this tank, or even this multiple-direction machine gun, and consider that they date back 500 years – a testament to the genius of the most famous Italian of the Renaissance. Don't leave Clos Lucé without taking a detour to the Leonardo da Vinci Park, where life-sized reproductions of the extraordinary inventions allow both children and adults to dream.
