What monuments can you see from the Seine?

The classic Seine cruise route covers about 6 km round trip and crosses the historic heart of Paris in 1 hour (sightseeing cruise) up to 2.5 hours (dinner cruise). Most boats depart from the Port de la Bourdonnais (at the foot of the Eiffel Tower), the Port de la Conférence (near Pont de l’Alma), or the Port de Solférino (beneath the Musée d’Orsay), and loop around the Île de la Cité.

On the outward journey, right bank

From the Eiffel Tower departure point, the boat passes:

  • Eiffel Tower — front view at departure, then aligned perspective from the bridge
  • Palais de Chaillot · Trocadéro — opposite bank, facing the Eiffel Tower
  • Pont Alexandre III — the most ornate bridge in Paris, with golden statues
  • Grand Palais and Petit Palais — glass roof visible from the river
  • Place de la Concorde and Tuileries Garden
  • Louvre Museum — southern façade along Quai François-Mitterrand
  • Pont des Arts and Pont Neuf — you sail underneath
  • Conciergerie — former royal palace and prison with medieval towers
  • Notre-Dame Cathedral — on the Île de la Cité

On the return, left bank

After circling the Île Saint-Louis and the Île de la Cité, the boat heads back along:

  • Institut de France — dome of the French Academy
  • Musée d’Orsay — former railway station
  • National Assembly — Palais Bourbon
  • Pont Alexandre III (again, from a different angle)
  • Eiffel Tower — return to Port de la Bourdonnais

Departures by landmark

Paris by night

After sunset, the monuments are illuminated and the Eiffel Tower sparkles for 5 minutes every hour on the hour (from nightfall until 11 PM, midnight in summer). This is the most photographed moment of the cruise.

How much does a Seine cruise cost?

All our prices are guaranteed with no hidden fees and most offers are freely cancellable up to 24 h before departure.

Best deals (under €60)

For a dinner cruise on a tight budget, three boats stand out: Eiffel Croisières Prestige (from €55), Capitaine Fracasse and the Ivoire boat with its bistronomic menu. For sightseeing, Bateaux Mouches and the Vedettes du Pont Neuf remain the cheapest options on the market (€13 to €16).

The premium segment (above €100)

For a wedding proposal, a milestone birthday or a business dinner, three benchmark addresses: the Diamant Bleu (signature menu, selected wines), the Yacht VIP Paris (small capacity, top-tier service) and Trattoria en Seine for a refined Italian dinner.

With or without drinks: what changes

Most companies offer two versions of the same dinner. The "drinks included" packages generally include half a bottle of water, a quarter of wine and a coffee — expect to pay €10 to €25 more than the "drinks not included" package. For best deals, going for the dry option easily saves €15 per person. For a special occasion, the all-inclusive or champagne packages are worth the extra cost.

Children and group rates

Children under 4 travel free on most boats; reduced fare from 4 to 12 years old (often 30 to 50% of the adult price). For groups of 10 people or more, sliding-scale discounts apply: request a personalised quote or call +33 1 44 71 77 34.

They do warn on the website but be aware that the climb to the top via a circular staircase can be quite tiring - there are a lot of steps! There are a couple of 'doorways' (not actual doors) on the way up where you can pause and take a breath, letting others pass by. Once up there the views are great, thoroughly recommended.

Common questions

What is the best Seine river cruise in Paris?

For a romantic experience in Paris, a dinner cruise on the Seine is the ideal option: dining along the water, breathtaking views of the capital’s most iconic landmarks, and a musical atmosphere (sometimes even live!). If you simply want to discover the main monuments of Paris in a short time, opt for a one-hour sightseeing cruise (in reality often around 1h15), perfect for a first discovery. A great middle-ground, often overlooked: lunch cruises, shorter and more affordable than dinner cruises, yet just as enjoyable—especially in good weather.

How long does a Seine river cruise last?

A Seine sightseeing cruise lasts approximately 1h15 and allows you to discover Paris’s iconic landmarks with ease. Expect 1h30 to 2h for a lunch cruise, an ideal daytime option. Dinner cruises, meanwhile, range from 1h15 to 2h45, depending on the company and menu selected, offering a more immersive and often more gastronomic experience.

Where to board a Seine river cruise?

Boarding points for Seine cruises vary depending on the company, but they are all ideally located in the heart of Paris, close to the most beautiful landmarks.

  • Pont de l’Alma, on the right bank, is the iconic departure point for the famous Bateaux Mouches.
  • Port de la Bourdonnais, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, hosts the Bateaux Parisiens, one of the most popular companies.
  • This same port, on the Musée d’Orsay side, is also used by the company Paris Seine for its lunch and dinner cruises.
  • On the left bank, boarding can also take place at Île aux Cygnes, near the Maison de la Radio, the departure point for Capitaine Fracasse.
  • Finally, Pont Neuf, in the historic center of Paris, is a boarding point for several sightseeing cruises and private cruises.
Good to know: each boarding point is easily accessible by metro, on foot, or by taxi, allowing you to reach your cruise stress-free.

How much does a Seine river cruise cost?

Once again, prices vary depending on the type of cruise and the company. Sightseeing cruises are the most affordable, with prices starting from €15 per adult. Lunch cruises range between €55 and €150, depending on the menu, duration, and type of boat. Finally, dinner cruises, which are more elaborate and often include live music or a romantic atmosphere, start from €59. Premium or gastronomic experiences can go up to €250 for a high-end experience on the water.
Tip: it is often more выгодно to book online in advance to benefit from the best prices and the best seats on board.

Are Seine cruises available at night?

Yes! Night cruises on the Seine offer a magical view of Paris’s illuminated landmarks. Dinner cruises are especially popular for a romantic evening, but sightseeing cruises are just as appealing, with departures available until 11:00 PM.

Can you take a Seine cruise all year round?

Absolutely. Boats are heated in winter and air-conditioned in summer. Cruises run all year round, including public holidays.

Are cruises suitable for children?

Yes, all cruises in Paris welcome children. They generally benefit from reduced fares. However, some packages (especially dinner cruises) may not offer discounts for children.

What is the dress code for a dinner cruise?

For sightseeing cruises, no specific dress code is required. For dinner cruises, a “smart casual” dress code is requested and recommended. Avoid shorts, flip-flops, and overly sporty clothing.

Are cruises cancelled in case of rain?

No. All boats have covered areas. In case of exceptional flooding or extreme conditions, the company may offer a rescheduling.

What monuments can you see during a Seine cruise?

A Seine cruise offers an exceptional panorama of Paris’s most beautiful landmarks, often from a unique perspective directly from the water. Along the way, you will admire the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Musée d’Orsay, the Conciergerie, as well as iconic bridges such as Pont Alexandre III, Pont Neuf, and Pont des Arts, each with its own style and history.
